Why are the French so Rude?

You are French? but you are so nice!

You are French? but you are so nice!

For all those of you who have been asking me over the years Oh you live in France? What's it like?

We go to France and see art, architecture, fashion, fine cuisine, great wine... So why are the people there so miserable?

First off I don't think they are aware of how they come across to the outside. Although France would claim to be a democracy... socially not much has changed from the days of the monarchy with the privileged classes. It is not a society built of the Anglo-saxon concept of if you work hard enough anything is possible.

Therefore a life style has emerged from this national lack of motivation. The french call it la "portion congrue" (the bear minimum) Most of us would call it Laziness.

BUT in their defense... Why work harder for the same result?

French Business'  like leather goods are being forced out of business or compromising tradition by manufacturing out of country to cut coasts.

Economic penalty for service

Believe it or not When you provide a service in France it is More costly than selling a product.

Social charges for the sale of a product are around 15% Social charges on a service provided are around 25%... add 20% in sales tax (yes virtually everything has 20% sales tax in France), then take out your income tax, pay all your overhead... and you are lucky if you can pay yourself a salary.

Many companies that both provide services and sell merchandise will therefore offer deals such as "Buy your windows here and we will install them for free!" well now that you have seen the inside you understand it's not really free but way cheaper for the company.

But imagine... you are the employee that comes to put in the window for "free" you are getting payed a salary by your company but your client is "getting your service for free" and on top of that they want a quality job??? Are you kidding me?

Because there is no pride in a job well done... in fact quite the opposite.

The fact someone can own nice things though working hard IS NOT A FRENCH CONCEPT. If you have nice things in the french mindset, you are either a lying cheating thieving scum bag, or mommy and daddy had money, or both.
